Ubuntu OS :

Ubuntu is the most popular Linux based OS in the world right now. You can download and install it free in your system. There is always a newer version of Ubuntu OS comes after 6 months.Recently, the Ubuntu powered Smart Phones also came to market.Ubuntu is an open source software platform that runs from the Cloud, to the Smartphones, to all your things.

You can always get the more updates from the official website : Ubuntu OS

The Internet Download Manager :

I think it's the best in the market right now.It actually increases your download speed by mulitple times. It integrates seamlessly into Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, MSN Explorer, AOL, Opera, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Firebird, Avant Browser, MyIE2, and all other popular browsers to automatically handle your downloads.

Get more information and updates here : Internet Download Manager

If you would like to know how to use and download videos using IDM , please follow this -Download movies with idm

Steps To Download Videos In Ubuntu :

I download a lot of videos from many different sites.I have been using  Internet Download Manager profoundly in Windows but I haven't found any downloader as good as Internet Download Manager. You just can't use IDM directly on the Ubuntu platform.Since the first day of switching to Ubuntu,I have been trying to figure out a way to download videos as fast as IDM.

Yesterday, I found a method by which i can capture any video links from any site.you need three things--
  • Firefox

Please find the video version here.
  • Go to any video sites like divxstage.net etc.
  • Start video and you will see DownloadHelper dancing in your bar.
*you have to play video, without it DH will not be able to capture links, you
can quit the video once you have captured links.
  • Click on the DH and you will see url(relative), go to copy url and click on it.it will save link.

  • Now, go to Tools->DTA->Manager.Click on it.

  • You will see a new window, you just have to press start button and it will start download with a very good speed.

*You can download videos with the help of DownloadHelper but i found that DTA is much faster than DH and performs well in large videos download.

  14. Try installing Internet download manager's old version 5.05 through wine in Ubuntu .. Though it doesn't integrate with the browsers of Ubuntu, but will definitely connect to internet.. Try and copy the download link and then use it through "add URL" option in IDM .. Later version of IDM's are not supported as they don't connect to internet through Wine ..

You can use the combination of FLASHGOT and IDM to download videos..
