Hi guys,
I am back with my freaking job which is paying me nothing :(
And my other partner is going on training so I don't think he'll get time for blogging stuff :) so lets wish him luck for next few months :)

GOOD LUCK PRAVEEN (makis) ..........

So, back to the post :)
I am very disappointed after seeing the latest release of kubuntu its great for other machines but pretty buggy on Dell laptops (mine is dell) :(
So I switched back to ubuntu and its has a very stable kernel, but there is very less scope of participation in ubuntu as compared to kubuntu (at least for newbies like me) so I decided to switch my field for a while.
Recently I purchased an android phone, so I thought why not peep into some android development, as it is also an open source :)

My today's post is how to set up an android development environment and install the ADT plugin for Eclipse (an IDE for JAVA).

1. For any kind of development we first need an Software Development Kit i.e.   SDK. To download the android SDK visit the following link:

2. Download the SDK appropriate for you extract it and save it to a particular     place.

3. Now you need the ADT plugin for Eclipse to start the android development from eclipse.

First Installing ADT Plugin for Eclipse:

1. Start the eclipse and open Help>Install New Software...

2. After that you'll get the install window:

3. Here you have to click on ADD button.
4. Then you will Get a small window like this:

5. In Name: field you can write any name you like and in location put the following:

6. Press OK and now you will see the screen like this:

7. Select all the developer Tools and press Next:
8. Then a window will confirm you the applications that will be installed, click  Next. Then the license page Accept the license and Click on Next.

9. As soon as you will click next installation will begin and will take some time,   depends on your internet connection speed.

10. Congratulations!! :) now ADT plugin is successfully installed.
11. Now add the platform and other details and we are done :)
12. Inside Eclipse go to Windows>Preferences>Android SDK manager OR  Windows>Android SDK Manager:

13. Now in the Android SDK Manager choose the very basic requirements for Development,

a) Android SDK Tools
b) Android SDK Platform Tools
c) Android SDK Platform.

Your window may be a bit different from mine because in my its already installed. :)

TIP FOR 64 bit USERS:-

1. One last tip for those are using linux 64-bit. ADK's are only for 32 bit machines, so if you want to use it on 64-bit machine you need to instal 64 bit libraries.
To install 64 bit libraries install the application getlibs-
sudo apt-get install getlibs

2. Then open terminal go to the location where you extracted android-sdk and go into tools folder, then execute the following command.
getlibs aapt

And we are done !!! So easy isn't it. Thanks to GOOGLE !!!

I'll be back with some new posts on android development.
Till then Bye :)
